One has to climb 16 steps to enter the sanctum and climb down sixteen steps from the other side to leave the place. The statues of Shankanidhi and Padmanidhi are seen at the entrance of the steps. Later they should see the main presiding Goddess who is seen on the second floor. First they should have the darshan of Vinayaka and Durga. The devotees should go around the temple in anti-clockwise direction. Unlike in other Vishnu temples here the idols of Navagrahas are seen on the wall in a straight line. Many devotees perform Satyanarayana Vratham here. Here the image of Lakshmi is seen on the chest of Perumal. On the ground floor the temple for Sri Lakshmisametha Satyanarayana Swamy is seen. After the entrance there are two shrines-one for Lord Dattatreya and another for Lord Bhairava. At the entrance Prakara, the idols of Astadikpalakas are seen. The temple is facing east, but has entrance from north.

This temple having two floors is located at 16th street at ThillaigangaNagar. This is a private temple also named as Sri Rajarajeswari ashram. Sri Rajarajeswari temple is one of the oldest temples and the area is named after the name of this Goddess as Nanga Nallai (place of good-natured women) which is now called Nanganallur. In Nanganallur area there are many old famous temples to see. As we rounded the whole temple, and coming out of the temple, when I looked back to Thank God, the immense peace, I felt, will always make this temple very memorable, besides the clean ambience.

The paintings of the temple, took my breath away, especially the Gopuram colour. Dussehra-Devi Navaratrulu is grandly celebrated, besides Ugadi. The temple is open from morning 6am to 8pm. Arul Jyothi Nagaraja Murthy, who is this temple peethadhipathi, once while travelling to Vijayawada, stopped to take rest at Durgamitta and felt the presence of Goddess Rajarajeshwari here, and decided to approach the locals, to construct a temple here. This temple was built by Sri.Ratnaswamy Mudaliar.
